In a move set to transform its global freight operations, SriLankan Cargo, the air freight division of SriLankan Airlines, has joined hands with WebCargo by Freightos one of the world’s leading digital booking and payment platforms for international freight.

This partnership enables more than 10,000 freight forwarding offices worldwide to instantly access SriLankan Cargo’s capacity, receive quotations, book shipments, and make payments—all in real time. The shift towards digital integration marks a step forward in making cargo booking more efficient, transparent, and accessible.

"By joining Freightos’ WebCargo platform, we're not just digitalising our booking process – we're expanding our reach to thousands of new potential customers," said Chaminda Perera, Head of Cargo at SriLankan Airlines. "The integration with Freightos' rate management and procurement tools ensures our services are visible at the critical decision-making stage of the freight buying process."

Importantly, the collaboration also opens up SriLankan Cargo's services to non-IATA freight forwarders across Asia through WebCargo Pay. This feature removes the traditional barriers such as the need for airline credit lines or bank guarantees, making it easier for small and medium-sized forwarders—especially in emerging markets to participate in international trade.

With strong coverage across key trade lanes spanning the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Indian Subcontinent, SriLankan Cargo uses Colombo as a strategic consolidation hub to strengthen its feeder network.

Beyond offering instant booking and pricing, SriLankan Cargo is also tapping into WebCargo’s interlining capabilities, allowing for seamless multi-carrier route bookings. This not only simplifies complex logistics for freight forwarders but also improves aircraft load optimisation across partner airlines.

The move signals SriLankan Cargo’s commitment to modernising its cargo operations while extending equal opportunities for all sizes of freight forwarders. As global air cargo continues to evolve, such partnerships are helping the industry become more inclusive, agile, and ready for the future.

"SriLankan Cargo brings high-quality regional capacity into our digital network at a time when agility is key,” said Zvi Schreiber, CEO of Freightos. “By integrating their rates and capacity, forwarders gain instant and enhanced access to critical South Asian trade lanes, including Colombo and India.”
