StarCruises has announced the extension of its summer sailings from Hong Kong, with its new cruise ship Star Voyager now scheduled to operate until November 14, 2025. Originally set to sail only through August, the extended deployment adds 11 more weeks of cruises, offering more options for travellers looking for regional getaways through the autumn months.

Sailing from Ocean Terminal, located in the heart of the city, Star Voyager will offer two, three and five-night itineraries to popular destinations including Okinawa in Japan and multiple ports across Taiwan. The move is aimed at giving both Hong Kong residents and international visitors greater flexibility when planning short breaks or extended holidays in Asia. StarCruises confirmed that full details of the itineraries for the additional sailings will be released by the end of May.

The ship will operate a mix of themed and destination-led sailings. These include five-night cruises to Okinawa with stops at Naha and Ishigaki, scheduled for July 20, August 3, and August 17. Two combination cruises featuring both Japan and Taiwan—stopping at Ishigaki, Keelung, and Penghu—are also planned for July 27 and August 24. From June 29 to August 13, the ship will operate two Taiwan-focused options: a three-night Kaohsiung–Penghu itinerary departing Sundays, and a two-night Kaohsiung sailing on Wednesdays.

The two-night Weekend High Seas Cruise, departing every Friday, will continue through the extended season. This sailing remains a preferred choice for passengers seeking a quick cruise experience without overseas stops.

Onboard, Star Voyager offers a range of accommodation options, including suites with private facilities and round-the-clock butler service. Facilities include a water park, rock climbing wall, zipline, and a selection of live entertainment options. The cruise line said the ship has been designed to appeal to a wide demographic, from families and couples to solo travellers looking for a relaxing break at sea.

StarCruises also highlighted the appeal of combining a cruise with a short stay in Hong Kong, given the ship’s convenient departure point. Travellers are encouraged to explore local attractions such as Victoria Peak, Nan Lian Garden, and Wong Tai Sin Temple, or take in views of the city skyline from Victoria Harbour before or after their voyage.

Speaking at a press conference in Hong Kong, Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, said the extended season reflects growing interest in regional cruise travel and strong local support. “We’re pleased to bring Star Voyager to Hong Kong for an extended period. The city has always had a close connection to our brand, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more guests on board in the coming months,” he said.

The cruise line also acknowledged the support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Tourism Commission, and the Travel Industry Council, all of whom were present at the event announcing the extension.
