Starhotels is set to open the doors to Teatro Luxury Apartments Firenze – Starhotels Collezione, marking a new chapter for one of Florence’s historic landmarks. The redevelopment breathes new life into the former Teatro Comunale di Firenze, transforming it into a sophisticated collection of 156 luxury apartment-style residences that blend heritage with modern Italian living.

Located on Via Magenta, near the Arno’s scenic promenades and Santa Maria Novella, the property stands on the grounds of the 19th-century Politeama Fiorentino — a cultural icon once graced by legends such as Maria Callas and Franco Zeffirelli. The project not only restores architectural value to the area but also reimagines it as a lively residential and community hub.

The apartments are housed across three buildings — Verdi, Rossini, and Puccini — each named in homage to Italy’s musical masters. At their centre, the newly created Piazza Maria Callas offers an open civic space that connects residents with the neighbourhood.

Designed for flexible stays, the residences combine Art Deco touches with contemporary comfort, offering options from studios to three-bedroom units. Balconies, terraces, and panoramic views invite guests to experience Florence at a slower, more intimate pace.

Amenities include 24-hour concierge service, communal lounges, a rooftop terrace with hydropool, and curated experiences ranging from Tuscan wine tours to hot air balloon rides. Families are equally catered for through the brand’s V.I.K. (Very Important Kids) programme.

Sustainability anchors the project, which is targeting LEED Gold certification through smart energy systems and recycled materials. More than a place to stay, Teatro Luxury Apartments Firenze stands as a thoughtful blend of culture, design, and modern Florentine life.

"The Teatro Luxury Apartments bring a new chapter to Florence’s cultural story. By reimagining. This historic theatre is a place to live, we invite residents and visitors alike to experience the city’s art, history, and architecture in an entirely new way,” said Elisabetta Fabri, Starhotels’ President and CEO.
