A New Chapter for Sun Siyam
Sun Siyam, the Maldivian hospitality group known for its private island resorts in the Maldives and Sri Lanka, marked its thirty-five-year anniversary with an evening in New Delhi on November 13. The gathering brought together travel partners, media, and influencers from India and introduced the group’s culture-led brand transformation under the positioning, The Home of the Maldivian Spirit.
Guests were given a first look at the refreshed brand identity and the new portfolio structure, which brings together its five Maldivian resorts and the Sri Lankan retreat under a single identity, The House of Siyam. The brand has outlined three collections designed to simplify navigation for guests and partners, each reflecting its focus on experience-led travel.
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi leads the Luxury Collection and represents the premium end of its offering. The Lifestyle Collection, which includes Sun Siyam Olhuveli and Siyam World, focuses on recreation and shared travel moments for families, friends, and couples. The Privé Collection, comprising Sun Siyam Iru Veli, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef and Sun Siyam Pasikudah in Sri Lanka, centres on privacy-led stays.
Signature Experiences form a key part of the new direction and are designed to highlight Maldivian culture. These include Maldivian Roots, The Insta Villa, Sun Siyam Beach Club, and several experience add-ons such as the Wow Welcome, Hidden Treasure Chests, Plant-Based Bliss, and Moonlit Cinemas.
Reflecting on the milestone, Deepak Booneady, Chief Executive Officer, said: “This rebrand is not just about design, it is about experience. It is about cultural authenticity, purpose-driven hospitality, and creating moments that spark joy. With the Maldives’ widest choice of villas, the region’s most generous premium all-inclusive plan, and now our Signature Experiences, we are setting the stage for the future of island travel.”
The broader vision, guided by Founder, Owner and Managing Director Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, continues to be rooted in presenting Maldivian warmth to travellers while evolving with the industry’s changing needs.
The Delhi event presented the new positioning through interactions, destination updates and stories from the team. India remains a key market for Sun Siyam, with travellers increasingly seeking authentic, culturally grounded travel experiences. The gathering reiterated the group’s intent to build further connections with trade partners, media, and Indian travellers.
Since the opening of its first resort, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, in 1998, the Sun Siyam Resorts portfolio has expanded to six private island properties, including Siyam World, which opened in October 2021. The portfolio includes one four-star resort — Sun Siyam Olhuveli — and four five-star properties — Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Sun Siyam Iru Veli, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef and Siyam World — alongside Sun Siyam Pasikudah in Sri Lanka. Each resort offers a selection of island-based and ocean-focused experiences, including rotating chef residencies and marine activities. All properties are owned and operated by the Sun Siyam Group, a private company founded in 1990.
