Telangana to Introduce Heli-Tourism Says Tourism Minister

Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister J Krishna Rao has announced that Heli-Tourism will soon be introduced to attract more domestic and international visitors to the state. He informed that the government is preparing proposals to operate helicopter tourism services between Hyderabad, Somasila and Srisailam to offer tourists a unique aerial experience.

Rao was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a series of tourism development projects in the Nallamala region yesterday. He said the state government is focusing on promoting tourism and creating new opportunities for employment while improving infrastructure in tourism hubs. The Minister pointed out that Telangana has the natural potential to emerge as a major tourism destination. The Minister also launched development works for the Somasila Wellness and Spiritual Retreat at an estimated cost of Rs 68.10 crore.

Telangana aims to be more than just a stopover. Adventure tourism, water sports, wellness escapes, and helicopter rides are designed to transform the state into a fully-fledged destination. Locals are excited too, as these developments promise fresh opportunities in hospitality, transport, and recreation.

The flight path promises breathtaking views of the Nallamala forests, the majestic Srisailam dam, and the Krishna River winding through the landscape. From this elevated vantage point, even familiar landmarks take on a new grandeur. Road trips may never feel quite the same again.

“Along with infrastructure, we will conduct a wide campaign to increase the number of foreign tourists. This will also create jobs and improve facilities in the region. We will give a big push to water sports and adventure tourism,” said Minister Rao, according to reports.

Helitourism is an emerging form of travel that enables visitors to explore destinations by helicopter. Rather than navigating remote terrains or spending hours on the road, tourists can take to the skies and enjoy birds’‑eye views of rivers, mountains, forests and heritage sites.

Globally, helitourism is popular for sightseeing over natural wonders such as the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and the Himalayas. Telangana now joins this league with its own aerial circuit.
