At the two-day Tourism Ministers’ Conference 2025, held on October 14–15, in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Tourism Ministers from across States and Union Territories convened to chart a collaborative roadmap for India’s tourism growth. Union Minister for Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, inaugurated the conference, emphasising the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘One State, One Global Destination’ and announcing that India will identify and develop 50 world-class tourism destinations over the next decade.
Participating in the conference, Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh, presented the state’s roadmap under the initiative, focusing on a paradigm shift towards urban and experiential tourism. Uttar Pradesh outlined a detailed proposal for Gautam Buddh Nagar to be developed as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) Tourism Hub. The project envisages a large-scale hospitality hub on nearly 100 acres of land near the IT City in Noida, with private sector participation.
In addition, there are plans to promote medical tourism by expanding high-quality health and wellness facilities in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Given the Okhla region’s geographical and environmental significance, the proposal also includes the establishment of a ‘Climate Change Museum’. A state-of-the-art convention centre with a capacity of around 1,000 people is planned to serve as a centre for research, exhibitions and public awareness programmes.
Singh said, “Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has set an ambitious goal of positioning itself prominently on the global tourism map. From spiritual destinations to emerging urban hubs like Gautam Buddh Nagar, the state is moving forward with a balanced focus on tradition and modernity to redefine the tourism experience.”
Proposals for Kalinjar and Siddharthnagar were also prepared under the ‘One State, One Global Destination’ programme, reflecting Uttar Pradesh’s multi-dimensional approach to heritage, spiritual and contemporary tourism development.
Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Amrit Abhijat said, “The ‘One State, One Global Destination’ initiative will set a new benchmark for tourism development in India. Uttar Pradesh has already established itself as a spiritual tourism hub, and now aims to expand into urban and modern tourism to make the state a comprehensive and attractive destination for every traveller.”
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat commended the proactive approach of the participating states, adding that the deliberations at Udaipur will guide the country’s tourism sector in a new direction. The next follow-up meeting is expected within a month to finalise development plans for selected global destinations.
“Our proposal for Gautam Buddh Nagar was not just appreciated for its modern infrastructure, but for its potential to create memories, experiences and wonders that truly reflect a ‘New Uttar Pradesh’ ready to welcome the world,” added Minister Jaiveer Singh.
