Jamaica has officially appointed Usain Bolt as its Global Tourism Ambassador, recognising his influential role in showcasing the country’s culture and attractions worldwide. The sprinting legend will now represent Jamaica’s vibrant tourism industry, promoting its beaches, music, cuisine, and traditions on the global stage.
Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, highlighted Bolt’s exceptional influence beyond athletics, stating that his international appeal will help boost Jamaica’s profile and tourism numbers. Bolt, a world record-holder in the 100m and 200m sprints, has expressed enthusiasm about his new role, which will involve leading marketing campaigns and engaging with audiences through digital platforms and events.
Director of Tourism, Donovan White noted that “Usain’s global appeal is unprecedented for any Jamaican figure. His endorsement of Jamaica as a destination carries weight that traditional marketing simply cannot match. We expect this partnership to significantly boost our tourism numbers and international profile.”
Jamaica’s national tourism agency, the Jamaica Tourist Board, remains committed to promoting the island’s acclaimed accommodations and attractions, which continue to receive numerous international awards and recognitions in areas such as honeymoon destinations, culinary experiences, and cultural offerings.
