What Visa Applicants in India Need to Know About Address Changes and Closures

Visa applicants across India are advised to note a series of Visa Application Centre (VAC) relocations and temporary closures announced by VFS Global, which will impact applications for the UK, Ireland, and multiple Schengen countries from January 2026. These updates have been confirmed through official notices on the VFS Global website, verified posts on VFS Global’s official X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn channels, and embassy communications.

UK, Ireland and Select Schengen Visa Centres Relocate in New Delhi

According to official updates from VFS Global, Visa Application Centres in New Delhi will relocate from Shivaji Stadium Metro Station to a new centralised location effective January 12, 2026. From this date, applicants for visas to the UK, Ireland, and select Schengen countries must report to VFS Global House at 27, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Connaught Place, New Delhi – 110001, India. No visa services will be available at the previous location on the Mezzanine Floor, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Shivaji Stadium Metro Station, on or after January 12, 2026.

The relocation affects applicants for visas to the UK and Ireland, as well as to Schengen countries, including Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Malta, Norway, Slovenia and Sweden.

From January 19, 2026, onwards, passport collection services will also be available at the KG Marg address.

Phased Transition for Schengen Joint Visa Application Centre

VFS Global confirmed that the relocation of the Schengen Joint Visa Application Centre in New Delhi will be implemented in phases to ensure continuity of services. For applicants travelling to Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Malta, Norway, Slovenia and Sweden, the last date for submission of applications at Shivaji Stadium will be January 9, 2026. Applications for these countries will be accepted at the KG Marg centre from January 12, 2026, while passport collection will continue at Shivaji Stadium until January 16, 2026. From January 19, 2026, all services for these countries will operate exclusively from the KG Marg location.

For applicants applying to Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Malta (MES) and the Netherlands, operations at Shivaji Stadium will conclude on January 16, 2026, with all services beginning at the KG Marg centre from January 19, 2026.

To support applicants during the transition period, VFS Global will provide a complimentary courtesy transfer service for a limited time for those who arrive at the former Shivaji Stadium location.

Austria Visa Application Centre Relocates in Mumbai

Applicants applying for an Austrian visa in Mumbai should note that this relocation is separate from the changes in New Delhi. As per an official announcement by VFS Global, the Austria Visa Application Centre relocated effective January 2, 2026, to the Urmi Axis Building, Second Floor, behind Famous Studio and opposite E Moses Road, Mahalaxmi (West), Mumbai – 400011, India. All application submissions, biometric enrolments and passport collections on or after this date are being handled exclusively at the new Mahalaxmi location.

Temporary Closure of UK Visa Centres in Mumbai and Pune

VFS Global also announced that UK Visa Application Centres in Mumbai and Pune will remain closed on January 15, 2026, due to Municipal Corporation elections in Maharashtra. Applicants with appointments on this date will be contacted to reschedule, or may log in to their account to select an alternative appointment date.

Where Applicants Should Verify Information

VFS Global reiterated that applicants should rely only on official communication channels for relocation and operational updates. These include the VFS Global official website, the corporate X handle @VFSGlobal, the customer support handle @VFSGlobalCare, and verified embassy or high commission accounts such as @UKinIndia or individual Schengen mission handles.

Applicants are advised to carefully review appointment letters and confirm centre addresses before travelling, as services vary by country, date and city.
