In a landmark move set to accelerate its global expansion, Vietjet has finalised an order for 100 Airbus A321neo aircraft alongside a US$3.8 billion agreement with Rolls-Royce for 92 Trent 7000 engines and comprehensive TotalCare® maintenance services. The announcements were made during the official visit of Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam to the United Kingdom, a visit that also marked the elevation of Vietnam-UK relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The agreements underscore Vietjet’s long-term strategy to modernize its fleet and expand its international network, with a particular focus on key growth markets such as India. The Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines will power Vietjet’s incoming fleet of 40 A330neo wide-body aircraft, enabling future direct services between Vietnam and Europe while strengthening medium and long-haul operations.

Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao described the agreements as “a symbol of trust, aspiration, and a shared vision for sustainable development and global connectivity.” She emphasized, “Together, we are not only connecting cities and countries but also connecting people, cultures, and the future.”

Christian Scherer, CEO of Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, noted, “We are proud to partner with Vietjet, a symbol of the vitality and growing stature of Vietnam.” Echoing this sentiment, Ewen McDonald, Chief Customer Officer of Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace, stated, “Vietjet is now among Rolls-Royce’s largest customers, and we are proud to support the airline on its impressive development journey.”

The expansion will further enhance connectivity between India and Vietnam, supporting growing travel and trade between the two economies. Vietjet currently operates non-stop flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru to key Vietnamese destinations including Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, with onward connections available across the Asia-Pacific region.
