With summer holidays in full swing, Air India has launched a new initiative to ease the travel experience for families and passengers needing special support. The airline has introduced ‘Family Assistance’ counters at Delhi Airport, offering a one-stop service hub for those travelling with children, elderly members, or individuals requiring additional help.

The counters are designed to provide personalised assistance at the terminal. Whether it’s last-minute wheelchair requests, seat adjustments to keep family members together, or help with baggage and check-in, the service ensures a smoother journey for all.

Passengers are welcomed at these counters through a meet-and-assist programme, where dedicated staff help with a range of support services. These include prompt baggage handling, guidance on immigration and customs, and addressing specific needs that may not have been pre-booked.

The service is particularly helpful for those with reduced mobility who did not request support in advance, or for families looking to sit together but did not pre-select seats. It also provides crucial guidance and navigation help for children travelling alone without prior enrolment in the airline’s Unaccompanied Minor service.

This initiative highlights Air India’s growing focus on customer experience, especially for those who may need extra care at airports. Currently available at Delhi Airport, the airline may consider expanding the service to other major airports in the future.

By making travel easier for families and vulnerable passengers, Air India is taking meaningful steps towards a more inclusive and comfortable flying experience.
