In a significant development for Indo-Japanese connectivity, Air India has announced the expansion of its non-stop Delhi–Tokyo Haneda service from four weekly flights to a daily schedule, effective June 15, 2025. This enhancement aims to offer greater flexibility and convenience for travellers, while also reinforcing economic, tourism, and cultural ties between India and Japan.
The move follows Air India’s recent transition from Narita to Tokyo’s more centrally located Haneda Airport on March 31, 2025. This shift has already proven advantageous, cutting the travel time to Tokyo Station to around 30 minutes, thanks to Haneda’s proximity—just 18 kilometres from the city centre. The route will continue to be operated using the modern Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, ensuring a comfortable long-haul flying experience.
“Expanding our Delhi-Tokyo Haneda service to daily flights reflects Air India’s commitment to meeting the rising demand for travel between India and Japan,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India. “This daily service, combined with our deepened codeshare partnership with All Nippon Airways, makes it easier for our guests to explore Japan and connect conveniently to other destinations in the country beyond Tokyo.”
Importantly, this daily service supports growing trade and tourism exchanges and facilitates quicker access to Tokyo and beyond. In collaboration with Star Alliance partner All Nippon Airways (ANA), Air India passengers can now enjoy smooth onward connections to six key Japanese cities—Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Okinawa, Osaka, and Sapporo—all on a single ticket, with through-checked baggage.
On the Indian side, the schedule enables efficient onward travel to major cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune, as well as to destinations across Asia and Europe.
The revised daily schedule is:
AI358: Departs Delhi at 20:20 hrs, arrives in Tokyo Haneda at 07:55 hrs the next day.
AI357: Departs Tokyo Haneda at 11:50 hrs, arrives in Delhi at 17:25 hrs.
This upgrade reflects Air India’s ongoing efforts to improve global connectivity and customer experience, making travel between India and Japan more seamless.
