British Airways partners with Birchall Tea

British Airways is all set to enrich the in-flight experiences for its customers with a new collaboration that celebrates British excellence. From May 1, 2025 the passengers flying with the airline will enjoy award-winning teas from family-owned British brand Birchall, both in the air and on the ground.

After serving over 37 million cups of tea last year, British Airways embarked on a thorough search to find a tea partner that matched its commitment to quality, taste, and sustainability. Birchall, renowned for its Great Rift English Breakfast—the UK's most awarded tea for taste—emerged as the perfect choice.

Travellers across all long-haul cabins, including World Traveller, World Traveller Plus, Club World, and First, will now savour a curated menu of Birchall’s finest blends, from refreshing Peppermint and Green Tea to calming Camomile and fruity Red Berry & Flower. Short-haul business customers in Club Europe will experience the new offering from June, while Euro Traveller economy passengers can purchase Birchall teas from the High Life Café from July.

Birchall’s tea bags are made from plant-based fibres in the UK’s only fully solar-powered tea factory, reinforcing the airline’s sustainability pledge.

British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, Calum Laming, said, “Last year, we served more than 37 million cups of tea in the air, and more than two million cups in our lounges globally, so we knew that selecting our newest tea partner was a decision we had to get right. We’re proud to be continually leading the way in championing British originality, and it was important to us that our tea not only ticks the taste box, but also showcases the quality and talent we have on our doorstep here in the UK.”

Daniel Graham, Managing Director of Birchall Tea, said, “We are immensely proud to be supplying tea for British Airways, which is the epitome of British quality and service; which is something incredibly important to us as well. We hope British Airways’ customers enjoy this elevated tea experience in the air and on the ground for years to come.”

The move is part of British Airways’ ongoing £7 billion transformation programme, which also sees the airline introducing prestigious English sparkling wines to its First and Club World cabins.

Passengers in the airline’s lounges worldwide, including the exclusive Concorde Room, will also enjoy a wider Birchall selection, ensuring a perfect brew even before take-off.

With this new partnership, British Airways reaffirms its dedication to offering customers a taste of Britain at every stage of their journey.
