Finnair has announced a significant expansion of its Nordic network for summer 2026, including the launch of a new route to Alta in Northern Norway. Known for its Arctic beauty, outdoor adventures, and the northern lights, Alta will be accessible via Kittilä five times a week between March 29 and October 22, 2026. The route will be operated using a 68-seat ATR aircraft.
The airline is also enhancing connections to Tromsø, with five weekly flights from Helsinki via Rovaniemi during the summer season, a service previously offered only in winter. Additionally, Finnair will increase flights from Ivalo to Kirkenes to five per week—two more than the current summer schedule.
"Northern destinations increasingly attract travellers seeking authentic nature experiences also in the summer. Our network, extending through Lapland to Northern Norway, offers our customers a convenient way to experience several Nordic destinations within one trip, and you can also combine the trip with, for example, a cruise in the Norwegian coast," says Perttu Jolma, Finnair's Vice President, Network.
Finnair is also boosting its services to Nordic capitals, adding seven weekly flights each to Stockholm and Copenhagen, and two to Reykjavik. For peak travel from June to early August, Finnair will operate seasonal routes to Billund, Visby, and Bodø, while also introducing two more weekly flights to Mariehamn in the Åland Islands. To support spring skiing in Lapland, the airline will increase its April 2026 frequencies to Ivalo and Kittilä.
