A major leap in green tourism and smart mobility is on the horizon as Mussoorie Sky Car Private Limited prepares to launch the Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway, a first-of-its-kind project that will drastically reduce travel time between the two popular Uttarakhand destinations to just 20 minutes.

The state-of-the-art mono-cable detachable gondola system will stretch over 5.2 kilometres, climbing a steep 1,000 metres. Construction of the initial phase is expected to be completed by September 2026, making it South Asia’s longest ropeway of its kind and among the longest globally.

Mussoorie Sky Car is a consortium of three reputed organisations: FIL Industries Private Limited, POMA SAS, and SRM Engineering LLP.

FIL Industries, known for its wide-ranging businesses including tourism and mobility, is India’s leading CEN-certified ropeway operator. Their successful “Skyview by Empyrean” project in Jammu and Kashmir stands as a benchmark for sustainable mountain transport.

POMA SAS, a world-renowned ropeway technology company, serves as the project’s technical partner and strategic investor. This marks its first concession investment in India, with most equipment being manufactured locally through POMA India, setting a new standard for European-grade transport solutions in the country.

SRM Engineering LLP, backed by the Rahman Group and Hindustan Dock Yard Pvt. Ltd., brings deep expertise in infrastructure development and finance, adding strength to the project’s execution.

This landmark ropeway is poised to redefine tourism, reduce traffic congestion, and bring eco-conscious travel to the forefront in India’s hill stations.
