Odisha has introduced direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi, operated by IndiGo, three times a week. This new route which is part of Odisha’s broader vision to enhance both domestic and international air links under the B-MAAN (Building & Management of Aviation Assets and Network) scheme, aims to strengthen Odisha’s international connectivity, facilitate easier travel for business, tourism, and cultural exchange, and open up new economic opportunities.

The direct flights are expected to significantly cut travel time, making it more convenient for travellers, traders, and tourists from the Middle East to visit Odisha’s famous cultural sites like the Jagannath Temple in Puri and its scenic beaches. The UAE’s position as a major trading hub and home to a large Indian community makes this route particularly strategic for fostering bilateral trade, investment, and tourism.

The new service will connect Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) with the UAE. This development is a step towards enhancing Odisha’s infrastructure and expanding its presence on the global stage. While the final flight schedule is yet to be confirmed, pending slot allocation approval, this new route is poised to become the fifth international service from Bhubaneswar. It is also likely to pave the way for additional international routes in future, boosting the state’s economy and encouraging further cultural and business exchanges.
