The Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) 2025 opened in Jaipur with a resplendent cultural evening at Hotel Anantara, introducing Concert Tourism — a new chapter in Rajasthan’s tourism narrative. With a blend of tradition and innovation, the event positioned Rajasthan as the first Indian state to formally adopt concert tourism as an experiential offering for global travellers.
Curated by noted art director Vinod Joshi and presented under the guidance of Anand Tripathi, Additional Director, Department of Tourism, the evening served as a melodic convergence of ancient folk traditions and contemporary musical styles. Featuring 28 artists from 16 towns and villages, the event offered a rich musical tapestry woven with traditional instruments such as khartal, kamaicha, bhapang, morchang and sarangi, alongside saxophone, guitar, keyboard, and clapbox.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari stated, "Today’s traveller seeks immersive experiences beyond forts and palaces. Music, tradition, and vibrancy are the soul of Rajasthan. With Concert Tourism, we aim to bring these emotions to the global stage. This is just the beginning — in the future, Rajasthan will host concert series featuring artists from around the country and abroad."
Six folk music communities — Manganiyar, Langa, Meghwal, Damami, Jogis and others — performed timeless Rajasthani classics like Kesariya Balam and Wari Jao Re. The evening also featured a mesmerising performance by UNESCO-recognised Kalbeliya dancers, including Khatu Sapera and Bhurki, whose storytelling through dance enthralled audiences.
