Singapore EXPO Sets Sustainability Benchmark with Platinum MICE Certification

Singapore EXPO, one of Asia’s leading venues for business events, has made history by becoming the first MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) venue to receive Platinum Certification under Singapore’s new Sustainable MICE Guidelines. This certification was awarded by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in collaboration with the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS).

This achievement highlights Singapore EXPO’s strong commitment to sustainability and its leadership in environmentally responsible event hosting. The Platinum award is the highest recognition under the new framework and reflects the venue’s consistent efforts to meet and exceed global standards in eco-conscious practices.

The certification acknowledges EXPO’s long-standing green initiatives, such as energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, and strong partnerships with eco-friendly suppliers. It also considers how sustainability is integrated across all stages of event planning and delivery, ensuring minimal environmental impact while offering high-quality experiences for organisers and attendees.

In the past 25 years, Singapore EXPO has hosted over 100 million visitors and approximately 12,000 events. It hosted about 400 events last year.

The new Sustainable MICE Guidelines aim to help Singapore’s events industry align with its national Green Plan 2030, and Singapore EXPO’s Platinum Certification marks a major step forward in making green events the new standard.
