Türkiye’s Travel & Tourism sector is on track for a record-breaking year in 2025, according to the latest Economic Impact Research by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). With a projected contribution of ₺5.2 trillion to the national economy, accounting for 12 per cent of the country’s GDP, the sector continues solidifying its status as a global tourism powerhouse.

International visitor spending is forecast to reach ₺2.6 trillion in 2025, a sign of Türkiye’s increasing appeal to global travellers. Meanwhile, domestic tourism is also set to thrive, with spending expected to hit ₺1.4 trillion, underscoring the robust local appetite for travel and exploration.

WTTC’s findings reveal that the sector’s growth goes beyond economic figures. Travel & Tourism is projected to support 3.3 million jobs in Türkiye next year, representing over 10 per cent of total national employment. This includes opportunities across hospitality, transport, food services, and cultural industries, fostering long-term economic and social benefits.

WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson commented, “Travel & Tourism in Türkiye continues to grow at pace and is reaching record numbers. As travellers seek authentic, enriching experiences, Türkiye is delivering with open arms, offering travellers a world-class experience.”

In 2024, the sector contributed ₺5 trillion to the economy and supported 3.2 million jobs. Although international visitor spending dipped slightly, domestic tourism remained strong at ₺1.3 trillion.

Simpson added, “2025 is on track to be a record year for Türkiye's Travel & Tourism sector, but success can never be taken for granted. While the country made great strides in 2024, international visitor spending did see a slight decline. In a competitive global market, Türkiye must continue to innovate and invest to retain its world-leading position.”

Looking ahead to 2035, WTTC forecasts suggest the sector could contribute ₺7 trillion to the economy, supporting 3.8 million jobs, with steady growth in both international and domestic tourism.
