The Waldorf Astoria New York has revealed a new wardrobe collection for its staff, designed by NO Uniform, a British design studio led by couture designer Nicholas Oakwell. This marks NO Uniform’s first project in New York City.
Inspired by the hotel’s Art Deco heritage and the city’s fashion scene, the collection combines timeless elegance with contemporary style. The designs incorporate rich textures like velvet and silk, reimagined with modern tailoring. They aim to reflect the hotel’s grandeur and cater to today’s global guests.
Luigi Romaniello, Managing Director, Waldorf Astoria New York, commented, "We are proud to partner with NO Uniform as we reintroduce Waldorf Astoria New York to the world. Nicholas Oakwell’s approach to design is aligned with our vision for the hotel—honouring our history while looking to the future, remaining committed to timeless elegance and modern hospitality. Our team members are at the heart of the guest experience, and their new wardrobe will not only support them in their roles but also embody the spirit and sophistication of Waldorf Astoria New York. This collection has been thoughtfully designed to instil pride and confidence in our team as they bring our renowned service to life."
The uniforms for various team members, from door staff to front-of-house, balance style and practicality, with subtle nods to the hotel’s history, including engraved buttons and signature colours. The wardrobe aims to foster confidence and pride among staff, enhancing the guest experience.
Part of the collection also extends to staff at the Waldorf Astoria Residences above the hotel. The new designs emphasise sustainability, comfort, and sophisticated detail, aligning with the hotel’s reputation for luxury and service.
