Divar Island came alive today with colour, traditional music, and community celebrations as Bonderam Festival 2025 unfolded. The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, hosted an inclusive programme that drew locals and visitors alike to experience one of Goa’s most distinctive monsoon celebrations.

Bonderam is renowned for its blend of tradition, history, and creativity, and is marked by flag parades, colourful floats, and cultural performances. While the main festival typically takes place in the final week of August, Bonderam celebrations are kicked off a week earlier this year. Attendees included the MLA for the Cumbarjua Constituency, Shri Rajesh Faldessai; renowned Goan singer Smt. Hema Sardessai; and Parish Priest of Malar, Fr. Joao Coelho.

The 2025 programme offered a lively line-up that fused tradition, culture, and entertainment. The day began with Bonderachem GEDTalks and Bonderancho Uzvaad, featuring engaging talks, Goan folk performances, and creative workshops, followed by Bonderachem Jevonn, presenting traditional delicacies. In the afternoon, the celebrations included the symbolic Bonderam Flag Parade, the Bonderachi Pássoi (heritage walk), and the much-anticipated Bonderachi Parade with colourful floats and traditional costumes. The celebrations culminated in a high-energy musical evening with live bands and DJ sets at the Malar Flagpost.

Speaking about the festival, Rohan A Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, stated, “Bonderam is a vivid celebration of Goa’s heritage, blending colours, music, and the unity of our communities. It brings alive our traditions through flags, floats, music, and the spirit of togetherness. Through our Goa Beyond Beaches and regenerative tourism initiatives, we are ensuring that such living traditions remain a source of pride, joy, and opportunity for generations to come.”
Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, added, "The Department of Tourism is committed to promoting experiences that go beyond conventional attractions. Bonderam, with its history, vibrancy, and community participation, is a perfect example of Goa’s diverse offerings."
The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, continues to highlight Goa’s cultural calendar on both domestic and international platforms, positioning events like Bonderam as key attractions for visitors seeking authentic and meaningful travel experiences.
