Akasa Air
Leadership Shake-Up At Akasa
Praveen Iyer, co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, has resigned from the airline, marking the second major leadership exit in less than three years. Iyer, who was also a member of the company’s executive committee, previously held roles at Jet Airways and Go Air.
Following his departure, Chief Information Officer Anand Srinivasan has taken additional charge as the commercial head. Last year, co-founder Neelu Khatri, who oversaw international operations and corporate affairs, also left the airline.
Akasa Air, backed by the family of the late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, was founded by aviation leaders including Vinay Dube, former CEO of Go First and Jet Airways, and Aditya Ghosh, former President of IndiGo. The airline currently holds a five per cent share of India’s aviation market.
The resignation comes shortly after a GST business verification visit to the airline’s offices, confirmed by an Akasa Air spokesperson.
Akasa Air has been expanding aggressively, recently inducting its 32nd/33rd Boeing 737 MAX aircraft into its fleet as part of a planned large‑scale expansion.
