Goa is going beyond its sun-soaked beaches to reveal a greener, more soulful side of travel. On the opening day of the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Mumbai 2025, held from August 11-13, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, made an impression with its showcase of regenerative tourism.
Diya Kumari, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Rajasthan, visited the Goa Tourism pavilion at TTF Mumbai 2025 and interacted with Goa Tourism delegates like Rajesh Kale, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, and Chitra Vengurlekar, Assistant Tourist Officer, Department of Tourism; Chandrashekhar Kopardekar, manager, GTDC; Janvi Kharat, Department of Tourism and others.
Rohan A Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, said, “TTF Mumbai is an excellent platform to engage with travel industry stakeholders and showcase Goa’s vision for sustainable and regenerative growth in tourism. We want to present Goa not just as a destination, but as an experience that preserves its natural beauty, nurtures communities, and celebrates culture all year round.”
The vibrant stall drew visitors into a world where culture, community, and conservation come together. Through a mix of live demonstrations, displays, and conversations, Goa Tourism introduced projects that are reshaping the state’s travel landscape. From community-led ventures in the lush hinterlands to immersive heritage village trails, the focus was on experiences that benefit locals while enriching the traveller’s journey.
One of the highlights was the celebration of Goa’s artisanal traditions. Visitors could explore stalls featuring local crafts, from handwoven textiles to intricate pottery, and savour culinary delights rooted in Goan heritage. Performances by local musicians and dancers brought the cultural spirit of the state to life, offering a sensory preview of what awaits visitors beyond the popular coastal belt.
Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, Government of Goa, added, “Goa’s tourism is evolving with new experiences that go beyond the coastline. At TTF, we are highlighting opportunities for year-round travel that balance discovery with responsibility.”
The Goa Tourism showcase also emphasised eco-friendly tourism models that protect the environment while supporting livelihoods. These included homestays managed by local families, guided nature trails through lesser-known landscapes, and cultural workshops that allow travellers to connect meaningfully with communities.
On Day 1, Goa’s tourism delegation engaged with travel operators, media professionals, and tourism boards to foster partnerships that will help expand the state’s domestic reach. The aim is clear — to position Goa not just as a holiday destination, but as a leader in sustainable, responsible travel in India.
With its regenerative tourism approach, Goa is inviting visitors to explore a version of the state that’s as inspiring as it is enduring. Whether it’s tracing history along a heritage trail, learning a craft from a local artisan, or enjoying an authentic Goan meal in a village courtyard, this is travel that leaves a positive footprint.
