Hong Kong to Host New Year

Central to Lead Hong Kong’s New Year Celebrations

The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced that this year’s New Year Countdown will be held at the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in Central. The event will follow a new format combining live music performances with a coordinated light display across the district.

From 11:30 pm on New Year’s Eve to 12:10 am on New Year’s Day, the programme will include performances by international and local artists. The line-up features Air Supply, alongside local performers Jay Fung and Cloud Wan. Performances by a children’s choir and the Hong Kong Police Band will lead into the midnight countdown.

Eight buildings in Central participating in the Immersive Light Show will display a coordinated light performance lasting three minutes. The projections will include a countdown clock and seasonal visuals under the theme “New Hopes, New Beginnings,” visible to audiences in Central and viewers watching remotely. Hong Kong Land, a partner for Winter Wonderland in Central, supports the event.

Large screens will be installed at Chater Garden and Edinburgh Place to broadcast the performances live. An outdoor projection will also be displayed at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. A countdown clock will appear on the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai as midnight approaches.

The countdown will be broadcast live on DiscoverHongKong.com and the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s official digital channels, including Facebook and YouTube. The event will also be distributed via satellite to international audiences, welcoming 2026.

Additional New Year’s Eve activities will take place across the city, including a countdown event at Hong Kong Disneyland and a concert in the West Kowloon Cultural District. The Hong Kong Tourism Board’s website provides a consolidated list of countdown events to help residents and visitors plan their celebrations.
