Indian Railways has taken a significant step to address the surge in passenger demand during the festive season by introducing two extra Vande Bharat Express trains between Patna and New Delhi. With Diwali and Chhath celebrations approaching, these new semi-high-speed trains seek to offer travellers faster and more comfortable travel options during one of the busiest times of the year. This initiative will ease pressure on already crowded services and ensure a seamless and modern travel experience for passengers.
Enhancing Festive Travel with Speed and Comfort
The introduction of these two new Vande Bharat Express trains marks a key development for Indian Railways. Renowned for their cutting-edge technology, these trains are designed to substantially reduce travel time while maintaining high standards of comfort. Passengers travelling between Patna and New Delhi can expect a journey that is quicker and more comfortable than traditional services, thanks to the semi-high-speed features and superior onboard amenities.
The Vande Bharat Express trains are equipped with several modern facilities, including onboard Wi-Fi, infotainment systems, and enhanced hygiene standards, making them an ideal choice for travellers seeking a premium and smooth ride. These services are not only about speed but also focus on delivering an exceptional travel experience, in line with growing demand for better rail services across the country.
What the New Vande Bharat Express Trains Offer
The two new trains are set to operate on a temporary basis to cater to the festive rush, providing passengers with greater flexibility and travel options. These services are specifically designed to alleviate overcrowding on existing trains and ensure travellers can journey in comfort and style during the festive season.
The First Train: 02253/02254
The first Vande Bharat Express train, numbered 02253/02254, will operate three days a week — Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. This service will depart Patna Junction at 10:00, arriving in New Delhi at 23:30 on the same day, offering a direct and time-efficient journey. The return trip will commence at 08:35 from New Delhi on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, arriving in Patna at 21:30.
This service is scheduled for 17 trips and will be equipped with 20 chair-car coaches, allowing it to accommodate more passengers than regular services. The additional coaches ensure the train can handle the expected influx of travellers during the peak festive period.
The Second Train: 02251/02252
The second Vande Bharat Express train, numbered 02251/02252, will also run tri-weekly, but on different days — Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Like the first train, this service will depart Patna at 10:00 and reach New Delhi at 23:30. The return journey from New Delhi will start at 08:35 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Patna at 21:30.
This train will operate for 16 trips and will have 16 chair-car coaches, ensuring ample seating for passengers making the journey between the two cities during the busy festive period.
This expansion of services reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to improving the overall passenger experience, especially during peak travel periods like Diwali and Chhath. The railway sector has long aimed to enhance service quality, and the introduction of these two additional Vande Bharat Express trains is a step towards achieving that goal.
Not only do these trains offer faster and more comfortable travel, but they also form a critical part of modernising India’s rail network. With the country’s population continuing to grow and more people turning to rail for long-distance journeys, the demand for faster, more efficient services is at an all-time high. Indian Railways is responding by introducing more semi-high-speed trains like Vande Bharat Express, which are transforming the way people travel.
The addition of these Vande Bharat Express trains is just one part of a broader vision for the future of rail travel in India. Indian Railways is actively working to expand the Vande Bharat Express network across the country, making it a central pillar of India’s transportation infrastructure. The aim is to modernise the rail network and offer travellers a more seamless and high-quality travel experience that is both efficient and comfortable.
As the country continues to grow and the demand for efficient transport increases, the importance of these advanced trains will only become more pronounced. With their blend of speed, comfort, and modern amenities, the Vande Bharat Express trains are setting new standards for rail travel in India, and the festive season is just one example of how these trains are making a difference.
