IndiGo is set to reconnect India and China with the launch of daily, non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, starting October 26, 2025. The move marks the airline’s return to Mainland China after a pandemic-induced pause and reflects growing cooperation between the two countries.
Operated by Airbus A320neo aircraft, the route will strengthen both tourism and cross-border business. With Guangzhou’s position as a key hub for trade and commerce, the flights are expected to provide a convenient link for business travellers as well as leisure passengers looking to explore southern China.
IndiGo has confirmed that subject to regulatory approvals, a direct service between Delhi and Guangzhou will also be introduced shortly, further expanding connectivity. The airline had earlier operated flights to China and says its existing partnerships and past operational experience will allow a swift and smooth resumption.
The resumption forms part of IndiGo’s broader global expansion strategy. In recent months, the carrier has been steadily increasing its international footprint, opening up new routes that provide travellers with greater choice and convenience.
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said, “We are delighted to announce the resumption of daily, non-stop flights between India and mainland China. We are proud to be among the first to resume direct connectivity to China from two points in India. This will once again allow seamless movement of people, goods, and ideas, while also strengthening bilateral ties between the two of the world’s most populous countries and fast-growing economies. With this very important step, we are looking at introducing more direct flights into China. As we take steady strides towards becoming a global aviation player, this is a significant move to strengthen our international network.”
Bookings for the Kolkata–Guangzhou service open from today, and customers can reserve seats via IndiGo’s website or mobile app.
With travel between India and China poised for revival, IndiGo’s new flights mark an important step in rebuilding air links and unlocking fresh opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
