Uttar Pradesh Tourism drew the spotlight at the 47th PATA Travel Mart 2025 in Bangkok, presenting its rich Buddhist heritage under the theme ‘Embark on Your Bodhi Yatra in Uttar Pradesh’.
The state’s pavilion showcased six revered Buddhist sites – Sarnath, Kapilvastu, Sankisa, Kaushambi, Shravasti, and Kushinagar – through interactive displays and storytelling. The stall became a hub of activity, engaging visitors from the global travel trade, media and industry leaders. More than 20 co-exhibitors joined the delegation, using the platform for meaningful B2B meetings that opened fresh opportunities for collaboration and investment.
The pavilion was inaugurated by Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to Thailand, setting the stage for three days of dialogue and networking. Its blend of traditional Buddhist design with contemporary presentation earned widespread appreciation.
Tourism & Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “At PATA Travel Mart, Uttar Pradesh has successfully positioned itself as the world’s foremost destination for Buddhist tourism. The Bodhi Yatra in our state is not just a spiritual trail – it is a global journey of culture, wellness, and community, supported by modern connectivity and infrastructure.”
Echoing this, Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram noted, “The enthusiastic response at PATA has reaffirmed our vision to establish Uttar Pradesh as the global hub of Buddhist tourism. The partnerships created by our 20 co-exhibitors will strengthen itineraries, extend visitor stays, and create shared opportunities for local communities and service providers.”
The Embassy of India in Bangkok added momentum with a roadshow, featuring a detailed presentation on the Buddhist Circuit and the state's wider tourism offerings. Honouring contributors and showcasing diverse experiences, the event reinforced Uttar Pradesh’s ambition to emerge as a spiritual and cultural capital of global tourism by 2030.
