UP Diwas 2026

Celebrating Uttar Pradesh’s Diaspora And Cultural Diversity

A cultural evening at Delhi Haat on January 24 will put the spotlight on Uttar Pradesh’s rich crafts, cuisine, and performing arts, offering a taste of the state’s heritage to both national and international audiences in the capital.

UP Diwas 2026 is part of the state’s effort to project its civilisational depth, artistic traditions, and modern aspirations beyond its borders. The evening promises to be a vibrant reflection of Uttar Pradesh’s cultural richness and contemporary dynamism.

The programme, beginning at 5:30 pm, is expected to be attended by members of the Indian diaspora, senior Government of India officials, distinguished personalities from Uttar Pradesh and representatives of 18–20 foreign missions, reflecting the growing global interest in the state’s cultural and social legacy. The venue will be curated around the theme ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh’, presenting a visual and experiential narrative that connects tradition with progress.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said that the Delhi Haat celebration is designed as a cultural bridge, bringing together people of Uttar Pradesh origin, diplomats and cultural stakeholders on a shared platform. Folk performances from different regions of the state, displays of traditional crafts and a carefully selected presentation of regional cuisines will together offer a snapshot of Uttar Pradesh’s diversity. Eminent individuals of Uttar Pradesh origin who have made significant contributions across sectors will also be felicitated during the event.

The Minister also noted that the initiative at Delhi Haat is part of a wider outreach. In the run-up to UP Diwas, official communications have been sent to Indian Missions in nearly 12 countries including Fiji, Cambodia, Seychelles, among others with a significant presence of people of Uttar Pradesh origin, encouraging them to mark the occasion locally with community participation.

The aim is to strengthen cultural bonds with the global UP diaspora while highlighting the state’s contribution to India’s shared cultural identity.

UP Diwas 2026 will be observed simultaneously across all districts of the state, with the main state-level celebration at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Lucknow, and district-level programmes focusing on culture, literature, social initiatives and development milestones. Together, these efforts seek to project Uttar Pradesh as a state that honours its heritage while confidently engaging with the world.

Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Culture and Religious Affairs Amrit Abhijat said that extending UP Diwas celebrations beyond the state reflects a conscious effort to nurture pride, belonging and cultural continuity among people of Uttar Pradesh origin worldwide. He added that platforms such as Delhi Haat also allow initiatives like One District One Product and the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’ to be presented to an international audience, while leveraging Lucknow’s recognition under UNESCO’s Creative City of Gastronomy network to highlight the state’s cultural depth and tourism potential.
