Preparations for Grand Festivals

The Department of Tourism reviewed plans for Deepotsav in Ayodhya and Dev Deepawali in Varanasi, under the chairmanship of Jaiveer Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and Culture. Discussions focused on cultural programming, visitor experience, and global promotional outreach. These festivals are being positioned as world-class attractions that highlight Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural identity while boosting tourism potential.

First-Ever Dudhwa Mahotsav

A major announcement this month was the forthcoming Dudhwa Mahotsav, set to be held at Dudhwa National Park. Conceived as an annual flagship event, it will celebrate eco-tourism, biodiversity, and the cultural vibrancy of the Terai region. The Mahotsav will also promote wildlife conservation while positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leading eco-tourism destination.

Strengthening Kashi’s Global Profile

In alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision, the Ministry of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh Tourism, and the Varanasi District Administration organised an awareness and B2B workshop with more than 250 stakeholders. Key outcomes included the mapping of 170 heritage sites in Kashi and Sarnath, the launch of 11 new guided walks, and the training of over 275 local ambassadors through the Meri Kashi programme. These initiatives aim to elevate Kashi as a world-class spiritual and cultural destination.

Driving Rural and Sustainable Tourism

The state invited proposals for the development of farm stays, encouraging authentic agri-tourism and strengthening rural livelihoods. Heritage properties are being revitalised through adaptive reuse projects under PPP models, while rural villages such as KariKot in Bahraich gained recognition, winning the ICRT Indian Subcontinent Award 2025 for community-driven tourism.
