The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and Fujairah Adventures have signed a groundbreaking partnership in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. This alliance aims to elevate adventure tourism across the UAE with the country’s first-ever cross-emirate trail.
Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Fujairah International Conference on Adventure Tourism on April 30, the collaboration combines Ras Al Khaimah’s dramatic peaks and world-class adventure attractions with Fujairah’s majestic wadis and historic trails.
The partnership will deliver a unique, seamless adventure experience that spans rugged mountains, ancient desert tracks, and coastal landscapes. Among the highlights will be the creation of the UAE’s first cross-emirate hiking trail, offering visitors an unforgettable exploration of the Northern Emirates’ spectacular scenery. Both emirates are committed to sustainable tourism, prioritising environmental protection, preservation of cultural heritage, and community involvement.
Ras Al Khaimah is home to Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, featuring attractions such as Jais Flight, Jais Sledder, the Jais Sky Tour, and the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp. The area offers a 97km network of hiking trails and the renowned Jebel Jais Rim Trail — a 40km loop boasting the UAE’s longest balcony walk with breathtaking views of the mountains and coastlines. Visitors can enjoy multi-day hikes with overnight stays at mountain villages, immersing themselves in local culture.
Brent Anderson, Chief Commercial Officer, RAKTDA, commented, “This collaboration isn't just about expanding our tourism offerings – it's about creating meaningful connections between landscapes, communities, and cultures in ways we've never seen before. By partnering with Fujairah Adventures, we are not only enriching adventure tourism in the UAE but also setting a precedent for cross-destination collaborations that celebrate diversity, champion sustainability, and inspire a new era of exploration across the region’s most breathtaking terrains.”
Fujairah’s adventure credentials include the Fujairah Adventure Park, diverse hiking trails, and the historic Altaybbah Route, an ancient trading path linking mountain villages. Other popular trails include the Seven Summits Hike and Ain Al Sheria Trail, which feature panoramic coastal views and geological wonders. The Wadi Al Dahir and Wadi Al Abadilah offer lush canyons, sulphur pools, and water streams, while trails like Sal Khail and Alaqqah Coastal Ridge provide stunning mountain and sea vistas.
