Nike has unveiled the GT Future, a bold new silhouette that fuses the brand’s most advanced underfoot technology with a futuristic design, aimed at empowering the next generation of basketball players to elevate their game and style.
Designed for athletes eager to push their limits, the GT Future features a forefoot Air Zoom unit, a full Zoom Strobel, and Cushlon 3.0 midsole — delivering explosive propulsion, confidence, and support from tip-off to the final buzzer. Its innovative construction combines these technologies into a sleek, low-top silhouette characterised by a sculpted, industrial aesthetic and a seamless, ultramodern feel, appealing directly to emerging hoopers. The shoe makes its debut during the holiday season at nike.com and selected retail outlets.
As part of Nike’s Greater Than series, the GT Future is engineered for athletes who use their bounce to dominate the court and love to make a statement. “The GT Future is a new, radical, Nike-only expression of innovation, materials and form — built for the next generation,” says Jason Petrie, who designed the GT Future. “The shoe is designed to evoke emotion and promote performance with incredible bounce, a great ride and a super clean look, ushering in a new era of possibility for today’s young hoopers.”
The innovative design pairs a forefoot Air Zoom unit with a full Zoom Strobel and Cushlon 3.0 midsole, providing unrivalled propulsion that fuels rapid movement and empowers players to take jump shots, secure 50/50 balls, and execute spectacular finishes with confidence.
The silhouette’s form is optimised for stability and power, featuring a wide forefoot and heel. Inside, a padded heel lock system and bootie construction help keep the wearer’s foot securely in place, regardless of pace. With its industrial, sculpted design and seamless build, the GT Future is a perfect blend of high-performance function and futuristic style, directly targeting the next wave of basketball enthusiasts.
The debut of the GT Future was showcased by Nike NIL athlete AJ Dybantsa and rapper Wale during NBA All-Star Weekend. The shoe embodies Nike’s unwavering commitment to basketball, its athletes and the culture surrounding the sport.
By listening to a diverse range of voices, from grassroots players to elite athletes, Nike is shaping the future of basketball footwear, offering designs that cater to how athletes move, express themselves, and excel. Colourways, materials, and finishes complement the bold energy of the next generation, capturing their confident spirit on the court.
“The idea behind the G.T. Future was to create something meaningful: a reflection of where the game is going and who it’s being shaped by,” says Ross Klein, Senior Director, Men’s Basketball Footwear Product Design. “Our team set out to blend performance, style and culture in a way that feels honest to the athlete and true to the world they move through. We took time to understand what today’s athlete needs, how they think, how they play, and how they express themselves beyond the court. This shoe is made for that rare kind of player who doesn’t just play the game — they feel it, shape it and push it forward.”
