In honour of World Chocolate Day on July 7, Emirates is celebrating the delightful connection between the beloved treat and the vibrant city of Dubai. Over the past year, there’s been a notable rise in chocolate indulgence onboard, with an incredible 60 million pieces of luxury chocolate enjoyed across all classes — a two million increase from the previous year.
To enhance the ‘fly better’ experience, Emirates serves artisanal chocolates as part of its signature meal service to 140 destinations worldwide. Last year, Economy Class passengers savoured 36.6 million chocolates, while those in Premium Economy enjoyed 1.06 million. Business Class travellers indulged in 9.1 million chocolates, and First Class guests, with unlimited access and the option to take away their favourites, relished 122,000 premium gourmet boxes, equating to approximately 13.4 million individual chocolates.
Premium Chocolate Brands Onboard
Emirates collaborates with some of the world’s finest chocolatiers, rotating the selection every six months to surprise frequent flyers. Current onboard brands include the UAE’s Coco Jalila, France’s Valrhona, and Belgium’s Canonica and Neuhaus. The chosen chocolates vary in type — from dark, milk to white — and include bonbons, pralines, and truffles with fillings like silky ganache or zesty fruit, carefully selected for their taste, texture, brand prestige, and sustainable sourcing.
Chocolate Desserts in the Sky
No need to wait for a special occasion — Emirates offers divine chocolate desserts across all classes. In First Class, fare includes pistachio and chocolate mousse cakes with praline, warm chocolate fondant with raspberry coulis and mascarpone, or vegan chocolate tart with apricot compote.
Business Class guests can indulge in vegan onyx avocado chocolate tart, a banana, mango, and milk chocolate dome, or salted caramel drizzled chocolate mocha marquise. In Premium Economy, options include chocolate mousse cake with passion fruit, and Economy Class travellers can enjoy a rich chocolate mousse covered in traditional crème anglaise.
On longer routes, chocolate treats are featured in snack trays: candy bars, chocolate lollipops for children during festivities, and First Class guests may select 85% dark chocolate from Lindt. The Airbus A380 onboard lounge offers a selection of vegan and non-vegan sweet treats, including M&Ms, chocolate cake, and mini chocolates.
Emirates Lounges: A chocolate haven in Dubai
Emirates’ lounges offer an indulgent chocolate experience, with homemade Emirates chocolate ice cream, signature Costa Coffee hot chocolate, and a range of culinary delights created by Emirates MasterChef. In First Class lounges, savour Sacher cake — a classic Austrian dark chocolate torte with apricot jam — and pistachio kunafa layered with chocolate ganache. Other decadent options include Marveille cake with mousse, meringue, and praline, or white chocolate ganache decorated with strawberries and hibiscus.
Business Class lounges feature a decadent chocolate chou, filled with rich cream and topped with glossy ganache, alongside hazelnut crunchie and vegan brownie options, crafted with dairy-free chocolate.
Emirates’ dedication to offering the finest chocolate experiences makes every journey truly sweeter—whether in the sky or at the lounge.
