Zayed International Airport
Abu Dhabi Airports has marked another milestone in its journey as a leading global aviation hub, recording its 17th consecutive quarter of double-digit passenger growth. Between January and June 2025, more than 15.8 million travellers passed through its five airports – a 13.1 per cent rise compared to the same period last year.
Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “The first six months of this year have posed some operational challenges, yet our expectational mid-year results demonstrate the resilience of our network and the collaborative partnerships that underpin our growth. Consistently delivering positive growth for the past 17 quarters is a testament to the dedication and collective effort of the entire Abu Dhabi Airports team. It reflects our operational agility and commitment to delivering an exceptional aviation experience and attracting international investors. As Abu Dhabi’s tourism and trade prospects rapidly advance, our airports are well-positioned to support and scale that growth.”

Zayed International Airport (AUH) was the main driver, welcoming 15.5 million passengers, up 13.2 per cent year-on-year. Aircraft movements also saw a sharp increase, with 93,858 flights at AUH of 11.4 per cent higher than in 2024, contributing to a total of 133,533 flights across the network.
The H1 2025 Report also saw a major boost in connectivity, with 16 new destinations added. These included China Eastern Airlines’ Shanghai service, Air Seychelles’ flights, and Fly Cham’s link to Damascus. IndiGo strengthened its presence with new routes to Madurai, Bhubaneswar, and Vishakhapatnam, making AUH its most connected UAE hub.
Cargo operations registered strong growth too, with 344,795 tonnes handled in six months. A highlight was a joint venture with JD Property to build a 70,000sqm advanced-tech logistics facility, meeting rising e-commerce demand across the GCC and MENA.
Infrastructure and sustainability developments also made headlines. Sir Bani Yas Airport completed key upgrades to support eco-tourism, AUH achieved a 3 Pearl Estidama rating for construction, and for the third year running, it was named Best Airport at Arrivals Globally in the ACI ASQ Awards.
At Al Bateen Executive Airport, collaboration with Bombardier progressed on a dedicated service facility, while a new agreement with TAQA Distribution will explore next-generation utility technologies across the airport portfolio.
With its focus on expanding routes, enhancing infrastructure, and driving sustainable innovation, Abu Dhabi Airports continues to strengthen its role in the UAE’s economic diversification and position as a world-class aviation leader.
