Direct flights set to strengthen India–Israel connectivity

The Israel Ministry of Tourism has announced a significant boost to air connectivity with the return of Air India’s direct flight service between New Delhi (DEL) and Tel Aviv (TLV). Scheduled to relaunch on January 1, 2026, the service is expected to significantly enhance tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two nations.

The reinstated route will feature five weekly flights operating from Sunday to Thursday, using Air India’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. This direct connection will significantly reduce travel time, with the journey taking approximately five and a half hours via a secure, shorter route over Saudi Arabia.

Designed for passenger convenience, the flight from Tel Aviv will depart at 11:40 a.m. and arrive in Delhi at 8:50 p.m.. In contrast, the Delhi–Tel Aviv leg will depart at 7:00 a.m. and arrive at 9:55 a.m., enabling seamless onward connections.

This milestone marks a pivotal moment in India–Israel connectivity, catering to the growing interest among Indian travellers in exploring Israel’s diverse experiences, from sacred sites and cosmopolitan cities to wellness retreats and natural wonders.

Adding further momentum, Israeli carrier Arkia Airlines has announced its intention to resume direct flights to India. Following high-level discussions with the Indian Ambassador, the airline is exploring new services to cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Goa, potentially operated by its long-range Airbus A321neo LR aircraft.

“The return of Air India’s direct flights is a genuine game-changer and a huge win for us,” said Galit Hoffman, Consul for Tourism Affairs, Israel Ministry of Tourism, India. “This direct link is our biggest priority to fuel tourism from India, making it easier than ever for Indian travellers to experience the rich culture, history and vibrant landscapes of Israel. The added interest from Arkia only confirms the market’s dynamism. We are ready to welcome Indian tourists with open arms and showcase why Israel is a must-visit destination.”

The renewed interest from both Indian and Israeli carriers reflects the strong tourism potential and cultural affinity that continue to shape the India–Israel travel corridor. With improved connectivity and expanding flight options, Israel is poised to welcome a new wave of Indian leisure and business travellers in 2026 and beyond.
