IndiGo has launched direct daily flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow from October 26, 2025, marking IndiGo’s 45th international destination. This move sees Heathrow become its second UK destination, following the earlier Mumbai–Manchester service.
The route will be operated daily by IndiGo’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on a wet lease from Norse Atlantic Airways, with a two-class cabin: Economy and IndiGoStretch (the airline’s premium product). Complimentary hot meals and beverages inspired by local and global flavours will be served on all travellers on this route. Alcohol will be available for purchase in Economy, and complimentary beverages will be provided to IndiGoStretch customers. Every seat will have a seatback entertainment screen offering around 300 hours of content. Bookings are now open via www.goIndiGo.in, the mobile app, and authorised travel partners.
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, said, “Entering Heathrow, a major global hub renowned for its scale and connectivity, is a proud milestone and a strategic step in expanding IndiGo’s international footprint. The India–United Kingdom corridor has long been important, not only due to strong bilateral ties but also because of growing traffic from students, friends and family, business and leisure travellers. Following the excellent response to our long-haul debut in Manchester, we are excited to bring London into our network, offering more travel options for our customers while reinforcing our commitment to seamless connectivity between India and the world.”
Ross Baker, Heathrow’s Chief Customer Officer, added, “We are delighted to welcome IndiGo’s new daily service between Mumbai and Heathrow. As the UK’s international gateway, this route will strengthen the ties between the UK and India, creating opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural exchange. We look forward to supporting IndiGo’s international growth and offering passengers more choice when travelling between these two world-class cities.”
A strategic milestone
Heathrow’s unparalleled global connectivity makes it a vital link for Indian travellers, whether for business or leisure. Its central location serves as a gateway to the UK, Europe, and transatlantic routes. IndiGo’s entry into Heathrow is set to provide smoother, more direct travel for passengers flying between India and western markets. The new service will also give travellers from the west seamless access to over 90 destinations across IndiGo’s extensive domestic network and many international destinations in South and South-east Asia, Central Asia, and beyond. With Mumbai as India’s financial centre and London as a leading global financial hub, this non-stop route is expected to enhance trade and economic ties between the two nations.
