Noida’s international airport, also known as Jewar airport, will be inaugurated on October 30, announced Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu.

Within 45 days of the opening, flights to ten major cities will commence, including Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata. Naidu said discussions have been held with IndiGo and Air India Express to start services.

The airport will be connected by six roads and a rapid rail-cum-metro system, in addition to pod taxis. Once fully operational, it will operate under the 'DXN' designation.

Runway trials were conducted at the airport on December 9, with the landing of a commercial aircraft.

In July, airport authorities issued an advisory for builders and local authorities to observe height limits within a 20 km radius of the airport.

Naidu also announced that Hindon airport in Ghaziabad will be expanded, with a request for nine acres of land made to the Uttar Pradesh government. The expansion plan will increase the parking area.

The Union minister said that free Wi‑Fi will be available at all airports in the country within the next two months. Libraries will also be opened at airports soon for passenger convenience.
